The enigmatic archaeological park welcomes visitors again after rehabilitation work
Cusco, April 16, 2025 — The Ministry of Culture of Peru, through the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco, officially announced the restart of tourist visits to the Choquequirao Archaeological Park, one of the most majestic and least-explored destinations in the Andean world.
This measure comes after the completion of rehabilitation and maintenance work on the pedestrian section that runs from Capuliyoq – Playa Rosalinas – Marampata to Choquequirao, thus guaranteeing visitor safety and the conservation of the heritage site.
Starting on this date, the Reservations and Collection team resumes the sale of tickets and entry control to the park, allowing domestic and international travelers to once again enjoy this archaeological site, known as "the sacred sister of Machu Picchu."
A call was also made to visitors and tour operators to respect the official personnel's directives during the tour, in order to avoid setbacks and safeguard the physical integrity of all participants.
With this announcement, Choquequirao returns to the tourist map, offering a unique experience among mountains, history, and nature. If you are looking for an out-of-the-ordinary adventure, in an archaeological site full of mystery, ancestral connection, and breathtaking landscapes, Choquequirao awaits you with open arms.
