InfoCusco was founded in July 2001 in the city of Cusco. From a small office near the Plaza de Armas, our family started organizing personalized treks for travelers who wanted to discover the real Peru — beyond the postcards and crowded buses.
More than two decades later, we are still a family operation. We have grown — but we have not become a faceless agency. Every trek is still organized by people who have walked the trail dozens of times, who know every lodge owner by name, and who handle issues personally when they arise.
The Choquequirao trek has been part of our soul since the beginning. While most agencies focus on Machu Picchu (we run those tours too, through our main brand at infocusco.travel), we believe Choquequirao offers something Machu Picchu has lost: solitude, authenticity, and the feeling of discovery.
We've watched the trail evolve. We've built relationships with the muleteers, lodge owners, and local families along the route. We've improved the experience every year — adding hot showers, free WiFi at all lodges, oxygen tanks, English-speaking guides, and a proper safety protocol.

Our guides are the soul of the company. All are professionals certified by DIRCETUR, fluent in English and Spanish, trained in first aid, and — most importantly — passionate about Andean history and culture. Most of them grew up in the Cusco region. Some come from communities along the Choquequirao trail itself.
Behind the scenes, our muleteers, drivers, lodge partners, and office staff form an extended family that has been working together for years. This is what makes the difference between a smooth trek and a chaotic one.
